It’s Back… And it’s Bigger and Better!
IF you haven't put Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 September in your diary, now is the time to do it!

If you love food and drink and are particularly passionate about local produce, this event is A MUST! You really don’t want to miss out on the legendary Big Nibble – A Slice of Sussex event.  The two-day event launches the month-long Horsham District Food and Drink Festival, which will run from 3 September to 2 October.

With many fantastic events happening all over the District as part of the Festival, The Big Nibble is the most hotly anticipated event on the calendar!  It always attracts thousands to the town with many producers selling out, having to make emergency trips to replenish their stocks.

The Big Nibble logoLocal Produce Market

Visitors can look forward to a huge produce market in Horsham’s Carfax between 9am and 5pm with a diverse mix of local producers offering freshly baked breads, fresh fruit and vegetables, oils, salads, eggs, chocolates, preserves, meats, fish, pastas, cheeses and much more.  There will also be hot food and an arts and crafts section. Horsham Beer Trail
Sponsored by Piries Bar
For just £1 (yes - £1!), why not experience the Horsham Beer Trail involving many of the town centre pubs and bars?  Pick up a commemorative mini Beer Trail tankard and set off for a journey, visiting the town centre’s most diverse watering holes and sampling some of the finest beers that Horsham pubs have to offer.  This is your chance to sample those beers you thought you might never try in all those pubs you never think about going into!  Look out for the Horsham Beer Trail stand in the Carfax on Saturday 3 September, between 11am and 4pm to pick up your programme and start your journey of discovery!  Hurry, while stocks last!

 

Complete the trail and return your programme to Piries Bar by 7pm to be entered into the Prize Draw, with a chance of winning a 3-course meal for two, courtesy of The Black Jug, Horsham.

The Live Cookery Theatre
One of the most highly anticipated elements of the Big Nibble weekend is the 'Live Cookery Theatre', which takes pride of place in the Carfax on Saturday 3 September.  Demonstrations from local chefs and food & drink producers take place at the kitchen all day, professionally compered by Hilary Knight, founder of Sussex Food Network.  Hilary will be speaking to the demonstrators and engaging the public on the day, teasing out their top tips.  There’ll be opportunities for free tasters and takeaway recipe sheets so you can put into practice what you’ve learned.

Have a nibble on Sunday – Horsham Town Centre & District
10am to 4pm

This annual event has become so popular that organiser Horsham District Council (working in partnership with Horsham Markets) has extended the activities across the whole weekend. 

 

Southdown Historic Vehicles
For the first time ever the event is going district-wide on Sunday, when visitors can enjoy FREE Southdown Historic Bus rides across the Horsham District, along routes recreated from the 60s and 70s.  Buses will visit Billingshurst, Henfield, Pulborough, Southwater, Steyning and Storrington, between 10am and 4pm.

Bus enthusiasts will be in their element with various historic buses like a 1939 Leyland or 1956 Guy Arab (the only one left in the UK)

There will also be an open top bus, courtesy of Stagecoach, taking visitors from Horsham’s Carfax to Hop Oast to see a display of up to 30 historic buses.

         

The Nibble Trail
A town centre ‘Nibble Trail’ is being organised with free taster portions for a lucky few from participating restaurants, pubs, cafés and market stalls. 

Get your voucher in the West Sussex County Times on 1 September and redeem it in the Carfax on Sunday 4 September.  Hurry, as numbers are limited!

Horsham Festival of Sound
Sunday 4 September will see the launch of a month of quality live music, at various venues in and around Horsham.  The Big Nibble coincides with the launch of the Horsham Festival of sound, which will see 6 stages across the town centre on the day, covering various music genres.
