Amberley Museum is a 36 acre open-air site set in the heart of the South Downs National Park. Dedicated to the industrial heritage of the South East, exhibits include a narrow gauge railway and historic bus service (kids love the free rides), the Connected Earth telecommunications hall, electricity hall, printing workshop and much more. The Museum is also home to traditional craftspeople such as the stained glass maker, blacksmith, potter, broom maker plus a fabulous restaurant, gift shop and numerous picnic areas, where the stunning surroundings can be enjoyed.

FESTIVAL SPECIAL: Join us at our Brinsbury Campus for a morning walk or afternoon stroll through our fields and down to the farm where you will see our animals, learn about how they are reared, and have a go at making butter or cream in the milking parlour. Return to the main campus by tractor and trailer, then learn about the different varieties of apples we grow – and have a taste too. Finally, walk through our glasshouses and see our edible flowers before either having some lunch or afternoon tea at the Acorn Centre across the road (own cost). The walk to our farm is around 1 mile down a track and over the fields. Suitable footwear should be worn – walking shoes / boots or wellingtons if it is wet. Christ’s Hospital is a boarding day school and charitable foundation established in 1552 for boys and girls. FESTIVAL SPECIAL: Apple Day: Sunday 3 October, 11am to 3pm. Come along and join the County Council’s Countryside Rangers for their annual Apple Day, held in an old orchard behind the Orchard Restaurant on the A272, (between Buck Barn junction with A24 and Cowfold). Entry is FREE. There will be lots of activities for children and adults alike, including making masks, bird feeders and bird boxes and traditional apple games like apple bobbing. We will be joined by local woodland crafts people and a blacksmith. Find out about badgers and birds from The Badger Society and the RSPB. We will have a food tasting stall, so you can try lots of local produce. Bring some British apples with you to be pressed and a container for the juice. Refreshments are available. The orchard is on the Downs Link bridleway (old railway line), and parking is limited, so why not make a day of it and cycle to the event or park at Copsale or Partridge Green and enjoy a 45 minute walk along the old railway line and soak up the West Sussex wildlife as you go!

FESTIVAL SPECIAL: You are invited to an evening of indulgence in local wines and foods in Horsham. Hosted by a local food and wine expert, you will taste several of the best local wines and sample a whole host of local foods, which will either bring out the wine, or teach you that you should never serve the two together. There will be simple advice on wine and how to match different foods with different grapes. The evening will end with a gourmet meal, with one of the wines tasted.
